MPulse 2012

MPulse 1: June 10-15
MPulse 2: June 24-29
MPulse 3: July 15-20

*Each session is open to campers who will be entering 7th, 8th and 9th grade in the fall of 2012.

The MPulse experience is an exciting week of challenges for middle school students, looking for answers to the question: What does it mean to be a member of a community that is Christ-centered?

Young people are surrounded by all kinds of  “community.” They belong to all kinds of groups. What makes Christian community different? Or special? MPulse invites campers to come together to explore Christian community as it is described in the Word. Working in peer groups led by adult volunteers and camp staff; campers ask lots of questions as they explore what the Bible says and learn to practice simple spiritual disciplines. They are also challenged to problem-solve real-life leadership challenges, participate team-building experiences and make new friends.

MPulse offers an introduction into “life together” as a follower of Jesus. Each day brings opportunities to grow new friendships, to capture fresh perspectives, to ask questions and seek God’s answers about the role of Christians in the local and global communities, and to draw nearer to God individually.

Ninth graders are further challenged to serve as leaders among their peers during the week. Since many 9th grade campers will soon enter the new terrain of high school, MPulse experiences help to build their confidence and commitment to a life of faith. Unique afternoon activities in the Abilene community enhance the leadership challenges for these young leaders. These special experiences challenge and encourage 9th grade groups to think beyond the normal confines of everyday life and to see the world around them through God’s eyes.
